Charles F. Stone, 90, of Raleigh, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on Nov. 17, 1917, in Gallatin County to the late Hal and Stella (Dillard) Stone. On Oct. 17, 1942, he married Mabel Kingston and she survives. Charles was a member of the Galatia Masonic Lodge No. 684, and Mt. Pleasant Social Brethren Church.
Surviving family members include his wife, Mabel Stone of Raleigh; daughter, Hazel Tucker of Raleigh; son, Frank Stone and wife Sharon of Raleigh; grandchildren, Sheryl Pearce of Raleigh and Janice Hull and husband Tony of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren, Sarah Hileman and husband STG1 (SW) Gary of San Diego, Calif., Elizabeth Hull and husband Jeff Siler of Marion, Jeremiah Hull of Harrisburg and special friend, Kimberly Baldwin; great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Hileman of San Diego, and Lily Siler of Marion; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews survive.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Stone; and a sister, Helen Shires.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Bill Jones will officiate, and will be assisted by the Rev. Hubert Bradley and the Rev. Blake Bradley. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Galatia Masonic Lodge No. 684 at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA Hospice of Eldorado, or the Galatia Masonic Lodge No. 684.
