She married Michael John "Mike" Baker on 27 Oct 1897 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin. They were the parents of 2 children.
The family lived in Hardin during the early years of their marriage, and Mike worked as a farm laborer and then as an orchardist. In 1916, they moved to Alton, Madison County, Illinois, and he began working for the Owens-Illinois glass works around 1919.
Mattie died at St. Joseph's Hospital 5 days before what would have been her 72nd birthday.
She was survived by her husband, Mike; 1 daughter, Emma Meng of St. Louis, Missouri; 1 son, Harvey Baker of Alton; 3 sisters, Lizzie Sagez and Emma Mottaz of St. Louis, and Nevada Godon of Hardin; and 1 brother, Francis Mottaz of Springfield, Illinois.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of 12 Feb 1952 at the Streeper Funeral Home in Alton.
Mike passed away in 1953.
