Vene was the 13th child of Owen and Appy. Born when Appy was 44 and Owen was 51 years of age. She was 6 when Owen died of heart problems. The stories I remember her telling were of her memories of sitting in front of the stove with her Dad putting on her shoes. Later when he was bedridden, tiptoeing though his room. She and W E married young and had 4 children. The oldest, a son that lived only 19 months. She told stories of him walking and talking at an early age and holding his hands when he took his last breath. My heart goes out to all that have suffered the lost of a child. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gonzales, the Gonzales Garden Club and a volunteer with the Girl Scouts. She was a troop leader and then became neighborhood chairman of the Gonzales area. She was bookkeeper as well as partner with her husband in the family business. They retired and moved to West Monroe in 1976. My Dad past away in 1977 and 1978 she moved back to Gonzales. She was then employed at East Ascension Hospital in Collections Dept.

Mom was a loving mother and a good friend. She is still missed.
