Harmon Biggs, son of Mr C C Biggs of the Leatherwood neighborhood, was killed by a fall of slate in a mine at Lanark, Fayette county, Friday morning, March 31st. Deceased is survived by a wife and several children. He was buried at Lanark.

Killed By Slate Fall
In Lanark mines No 4 in Raleigh county, was Mr Harmon F Biggs on Friday, March 31, 1916, aged 42 years. He was a son of Chester C Biggs, of Leatherwood, and was raised within three miles of Hinton.
He moved to Raleigh in 1891 and mined the first car of coal from this drift mouth. He has worked for this company since and was held in high esteem, not only by the company, but by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and six children to ourn his untimely death. He was buried on Sunday, April 2nd, in the family cemetery within a short distance of his birth place.
Truly a good man has gone.
