Wayne was born April 25, 1946 to Walter and Evelyn (Pletsch) Acuncius. He was a graduate of Hall Township High School's class of 1964. Wayne enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and remembered his time of service with pride throughout his life.

Wayne built his life with his loving wife Delores (Cruz) of 54 years. Together they raised their two children, Theresa (Jody Linnig) and Eric (Angela Epley). As a grandfather, Wayne attended every school event, sports games near and far, and celebrated each milestone with immense love and pride. His six grandchildren, Kelsey, Calvin, Katie (Theresa & Jody), Trenton, Aubree, and Evelyn (Eric & Angela) bonded with him over sports, card games, and his strong family values. Wayne's love extended to his sister, Lynn Acuncius, as they continued a close connection centered around sports and family.

Wayne had a 44 year long career at Caterpillar Inc. He was an avid bowler, bowling three 300's, and is a USBC IV Hall of Fame member. He enjoyed golf and cups of coffee with close friends, watching any and all sporting events, and was a diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Wayne will be fondly remembered in his community for his commitment to daily walks and his appreciation for a beautiful lawn. Wayne and Lolie greatly enjoyed taking rides in their convertible while jamming to his favorite artist, Elvis Presley.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Evelyn (Pletsch) Acuncius and his in-laws, Rafael and Mary Cruz.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northwestern Memorial Fund (foundation.nm.org) and should be directed to "Dr. Aparna Kalyan's Cancer Research Program". Wayne built a relationship with his care team at Northwestern and would want to support the development of this research in hopes to help future patients.
