In 1850 he and his parents and four siblings lived in Saint Clair Township, Butler County, OH. His father worked as a miller. Also living with them was 22-year-old John Popp, who was born in Germany.

In 1860 he and his father, step-mother, and nine siblings--four full-, three step-, and two half-siblings--lived in Washington Township, Morrow County, OH. His father worked as a sawyer and Archibald worked as an engineer.

On June 1, 1880 he and his wife and their three children lived at 362 Long Street in Columbus, OH. He worked as a jeweler. They were counted there in the census on June 7th or 8th. Then on June 9th they were counted again at 27 North High Street in Columbus.

In 1900 he and Sarah and their two youngest children lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, at 1107 East Long Street in Columbus, OH. He worked as a jeweler and Howard worked as a commercial traveler.

In 1910 he and his wife and their daughter lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, at 1576 Richmond Avenue in Columbus. He worked as a jewelry manufacturer.

In 1920 just he and Sarah lived there. He still worked as a jewelry manufacturer.
