Doris J. Boyer, age 86 of Addison, NY gained her Angel Wings and went to Heaven on Friday, August 11, 2023 at her daughter's home.
Born on May 30, 1937 in New Albany, IN, she was the daughter of the late William H. Wright and Katherine (Van Nordt) Wright Mayfield. She married the love of her life on November 17, 1953 at the age of 16 when Harold "Buzz"
Boyer, Sr. came out of the Army. He predeceased her on March 8, 2002 after 48 years of marriage. They met while Doris worked as a waitress at Dagwoods Restaurant before becoming a Homemaker raising her children and caring for her family and home.
Doris will be remembered for her years as a Coach on the Addison Cinderella Softball League. In 1980 she became a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #3904 and in 1999 became a member of the Campbell American Legion Auxiliary. Doris loved Life, Family, and Friends. She enjoyed doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles and sudoku's. She loved visiting with her friends at the Eagles Club. Doris loved hugs and everyone she met. She was known to many neighbors and the neighborhood kids as their 2nd 'Mom'.
Doris is survived by her children: Deanna J. (Richard) Steadman, Michael M. (Pamela) Boyer; daughter-in-law, Melody Boyer; 6 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Robert Boyer and Neil Baker; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her son, Harold H. "Buzzie" Boyer Jr. on July 14, 2018; grandson: Ben Boyer; siblings: George, William, Robert and LeRoy Wright, Mildred Melton; and in-laws: Dave & Ruth Boyer, Mary Baker and Bert and Vernon Boyer.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from
11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall St., Addison, NY. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1:00 pm, Rev. Michael Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Addison Rural Cemetery.
