Robert Dwight Rushing, 89, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 10:50 P.M., Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Friendship Manor Healthcare in Nashville, IL. Bob had been a laborer and equipment operator at Captain Mine. He was of the Baptist faith. Bob was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of UMW of A. He was born October 12, 1926 at Cutler, IL, the son of Dwight and Iva Ellen (Ryan) Rushing. He married Deloris Jane Mathis on July 21, 1950 at the Beaucoup Church parsonage in Pinckneyville, IL and she survives. He is survived by his wife of Pinckneyville, one daughter - Debbie Plumlee and husband Mike of Pinckneyville, two sons - Todd Rushing and wife Lindy of Pinckneyville and Rodney Rushing and wife Stephanie of Pewaukee, WI, five grandchildren - Josh Plumlee and wife Natasha, Ryan Rushing, Bobby Rushing, Alexandria Rushing and Aureilia Rushing. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Private family services will be held at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Rob Mathis officiating. Burial will be in the Galum Cemetery at Pinckneyville. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
