Charlie Linward Ragland, 84, died May 31, 2008, at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on March 11, 1924, the son of the late Samuel Ragland and Susie Mangum Ragland, and was married to the late Mamie James Ragland. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired Halifax County Schools employee with 40 years of service. Survivors of include three daughters, Susan Harper, Charlene Ragland and Vonda Mooreman; one sister, Lillian Marable; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Tyrone Harper and James Mooreman; two brothers-in-law, John Marable and Charlie James; one sister-in-law, Susie Betts; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including the devoted William Buster and Robert Mosley. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Ragland was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Ragland and Wilton Ragland Sr. Funeral services held June 5, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Haywood Jennings officiating. Burial in Rose Garden Cemetery.
