David D. Brown, 74, of Nixa, Missouri, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was a car man's car man with 40 plus years in car business in Southeast Kansas and Aurora, Missouri. He was born July 25, 1949, in Tampa, Florida to Chester and Margaret Brown. He grew up mostly in the Parsons, Kansas area. He graduated from Labette County High School in 1967. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on April 1, 1969 and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971. After one quail hunting excursion with his beloved father-in-law (too much walking), he never carried a weapon again. He earned his Associate's Degree from Labette Community College after his military service. Before entering in the car business, he drove a truck for Manley Truck Lines for 10 years. He began his long car career at the former Malone Motors in Parsons. He rose from salesman to general manager there. He was with Parsons Motors for a year before becoming manager at Royal Pontiac at Coffeyville. He completed his car career selling at Mayse Automotive in Aurora, Missouri retiring on March 31, 2021. He married Connie Hill on September 30, 1968. They lived in Wichita, Kansas, Newport News, Virginia, before returning to Parsons. They later moved to Coffeyville before moving to Nixa in 2005. She survives of the home. Survivors include daughters Kimberly Beard of Springfield and Pamela (Brent) Wheat of Fair Grove, Missouri. He was Papa David to seven grandchildren Aubrie (Phillip) Tillotson of Ozark, Liam Ledford of the home, who both were reared in their home, Baylie (Alex) Wallace of Springfield, Kendra Beard of Ozark, Skyelar Farthing of Fair Grove, Cameron Wheat of Buffalo, and Kalyn Wheat of Rogersville, and two great grandchildren, Atticus Tillotson and Briar Rector; one brother, Chester (Colleen) Brown of Ozark and one sister, Shirley (Dick) Fraker of Parsons; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father Chester Brown, mother and stepfather Margaret and Charlie Anders, and siblings Jim Brown and Susan Thomas. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2023 at South Street Christian Church, 500 South Street Springfield, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Reverend Janet Given officiating. The rendering of military honors will be held at a later date at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Springfield. Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory, Ozark.
