Re-elected April 1919 and on the incorporation of the Borough of Gosport in 1922, he was elected as an alderman. He served on the Finance Committee, including as chairman. He retired in 1940. He served as Secretary of the Gosport and Alverstoke Building Society resigning the day before his death. He was Honorary Auditor of Gosport War Memorial Hospital. He married twice.
