She was born June 23, 1930, in New Castle, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Julia (Santillo) Nero.
She was married to the late Edward F. Ludovici, who died on June 7, 1981.
Mrs. Ludovici worked for Quaker's Dry Cleaners, Joseph's Meat Market, Shenango Pottery and Golden Hill Nursing Home.
She loved to talk on the phone, watch soap operas, crochet, dance and play bingo, but above all, she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
She is survived by four children, Sherry A. Ludovici of New Castle, Carol J. Stone and husband, Gary, of New Castle, Edward F. Ludovici Jr. and wife, Laura, of Hamburg, Pennsylvania, and Vincent E. Ludovici and wife, Rite, of New Castle; one son-in-law, Robert Pia of New Castle; one brother, Marion "Duddy" Nero of New Castle; one sister, Mary Newman of New Castle; 13 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and everyone that Mona took in and raised as her own.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa M. Pia; five brothers, Anthony "Dooders" Nero, Alphonso Nero, Charles Nero, Joseph "Pep" Nero, and Benny "Figo" Nero; five sisters, Jane Nero, Antoinette Carbone, Margaret Fontana, Ann Voras and Veronica Nero; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vitus. Father Joe Luisi will officiate. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m.. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
