De Bruin, Emma Jane, wife of the late Cornellius De Bruin, died February 18 at 4 o'clock a.m. at the home of her son, Peter De Bruin, 117 Balch Street, at the age of 86 years, 11 months, 7 days. She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Adam Slis and Peter De Bruin, of Portage Center; one niece Mrs. Levinus Van Zommeron, and one nephew, Peter Valster, both of this city. Also, 19 granchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was born in the Netherlands in the year 1836 and came to this country 56 years ago and has always made her home in Kalamazoo. The funeral will be private and will be held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Adam Slis, 121 Balch Street, Tuesday, 3:30 p.m. Friends may view the body Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
