Kathryn was born in Lamoni, Iowa on August 10, 1927, to her loving parents John Samuel Swigart and Mary Olive Harlan.
Kathryn had a heart of gold, that had love for everyone, which meant she had never met a stranger. As a strong woman of faith, she was a true witness of God to family and friends. Kathryn's kitchen was a place of joy for her, where she prepared delicious meals and desserts that would bring smiles to people's faces and bellies. She had a way of brightening peoples days through her selfless gestures, like when she would hold your hand. No matter the occasion, there was surely a card that would express her love for you and make you feel cherished. So many hours spent at hospitals, to just sit and help comfort people in their time of need, reminding us of her endless compassion. Kathryn could transform any occasion into an exciting event with her beauty and grace. She worked hard her whole life and found joy in splurging a little on a flower for her hair, some costume jewelry for a little sparkle and color, and of course a little makeup with her signature red lipstick.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary, husbands Fredrick Ford, Bill Day, and Gene, granddaughter Angeleena, and brother Kenneth and they are all rejoicing in heaven together again.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will be carried on by her beloved family.
She is survived by loving children: Cathy Ford of Lowell, Carolyn Mackey and husband Ed of Monett, Johnny Ford and wife Mary of Lowell, Carol Meredith and husband Prentice of Farmington, and Judy Day of Springdale. Her siblings Phylis Daves and husband Joe and Seth Harlan and wife Johnie will always cherish her memory. She had 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren that were constant joys in her life. She leaves behind a strong family bond that will continue to grow due to the values and love that she instilled in them.
A service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be held at 9 am August 22, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Lowell, 409 Johnson Avenue, Lowell AR, 72745. A viewing will be held prior to the service beginning at 8:15. Following the service she will be laid to rest at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
