Architect Max K. Daul, 45, of Sunset Hill Rd., Putnam Valley, was killed at 2:55 a.m. May 20 when his car went off the road into a tree while traveling north on Mill St., Putnam Valley, according to police.

Putnam Valley police said Daul was alone in his car at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. John Zarcone of Putnam Valley, a Putnam County coroner. Police said the accident is still under investigation. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps assisted at the scene.

A resident of the Yorktown-Putnam Valley area for 22 years, Daul was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Germany, son of Anton and Maria Schmidt Daul. He was a partner in the firm of D & M Architectural Metal and Glass Co.. Inc., in Buchanan. He was a member of the Port Chester Legion Band, and was active in St. Luke's Lutheran Church Choir in Putnam Valley and the German American Society of Peekskill.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Teichmann Daul; a son, Deiter, and two daughters, Janette and Maxine, all of the home address, and a brother, Werner Daul of Germany.

The Rev. James Jackel, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, officiated at funeral ervices in the church today. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Peekskill. Arrangements were in charge of the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, 313 N. James St., Peekskill.
