Margaret "Peg" (Nicholas) Gasser, a dedicated homemaker and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023, at the age of 90, at her home in Seymour, Indiana. Born on April 28, 1933, in Scottsburg, Indiana, Peg's life was a testament to love, faith, and unwavering commitment.

Peg's journey began in the heart of Indiana, where she was raised by her parents, Hazel and Alice Nicholas.

On her 18th birthday, April 29, 1951, Peg embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when she married Merril Gasser. Their love story began when they met at the Slippery Spoon restaurant at the Corn Factory in Scottsburg. Together, they ventured into a life of farming, starting in Austin, Indiana, and eventually settling in Crothersville in 1960. Merril's passing on July 30, 1997, marked the end of a chapter in their enduring journey together.

As a homemaker, Peg's role was not confined to the walls of her home; she took care of her family and her husband Merril, who was a farmer. Beyond her household responsibilities, Peg was an active member of the Kingdom Hall - Jehovah's Witness in Seymour, Indiana. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she wholeheartedly engaged in community outreach as a full-time evangelizer, dedicating an astounding 100 hours each month to her cause. Her commitment to spreading love, kindness, and understanding touched countless lives and left an enduring legacy.

Peg's vibrant personality was reflected in her diverse interests. She found solace in her garden, tending to her cherished flowers. Her collection of teapots and clocks was a testament to her appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship. Her love for music led her to the piano, where her skilled fingers produced melodious tunes that graced the Kingdom Hall, where she also played in service of her faith.

Described as a true friend, a compassionate listener, and an advocate of open doors for friends to visit, Peg's warm demeanor made her a beloved figure in the lives of many. She was always there to lend an ear, offer a comforting word, or simply share a cup of tea with a visitor. Her genuine care and approachability left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

Peg's legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Mary Jo (Harold) Jones of Seymour, Indiana, and Carol (Terry) Silvers of Wedowee, Alabama. Additionally, she leaves behind three grandchildren: Daniel (Tracy) Taylor, Jo-Vonna Cuautle, and Patrick Taylor. Peg's love and guidance extended to her great-grandchildren, Jesse Cuautle and Ethan Taylor, who will always carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her five siblings: Howard "Jock" Nicholas, Harold Nicholas, Leon Nicholas, Sue Chilton, and Betty Caudill. Despite the challenges life presented, Peg's spirit remained strong, and she grew to be an embodiment of independence, faithfulness, and compassion.

A private burial service will be held at Crothersville Cemetery,
