Born at Cromona, he was a son of the late Carter and Lavenna Crase Amburgey. He was a brother of the late Robert Wayne Amburgey, and an uncle of the late Bridgette Mullins.
Amburgey was a truck driver at Adams Stone. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Myra.
Funeral services were held March 2. Burial was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking.
He is survived by a son, James D. Amburgey, Millstone; two brothers, Gary Amburgey and Roger Amburgey, both of Millstone; a niece, Angela Hampton; and two greatnieces, Ryley Hampton and Isabell Hampton.
