Helen Aragon
Lakewood, Washington
January 4, 1931 - May 30, 2023

Helen Dorothy Aragon, 92, went home to her heavenly father on the 30th of May, 2023.

Helen was born to Robert and Myrtle Price, in Vancouver Washington, on the 4th of January, 1931. After graduating high school, she earned her nursing cap and then joined the Women's Army Corp(WAC), serving during the Korean War, from 1949 to 1953.

Helen was very proud of her service and had many fond memories of her time in the military, where she served as an X-Ray technician. While stationed at Sandia Base in New Mexico, she met SFC Joseph Aragon and they were married December 30, 1953. During their marriage, they traveled abroad and lived in several locations. Joseph was eventually sent to Vietnam where he was killed in action on the 18th of April, 1967. Helen and her five young children then moved to the Tacoma-Puyallup area where she lived for all but the last year of her life. Although it wasn't easy being a single parent, Helen was a strong and courageous woman. She went back to school and also spent a short time working as a lab technician, but always put the well being of her family first. Her proudest accomplishment was the job she did helping shape her children into successful adults.

She was active in the Gold Star Wives of America where she served as a lifetime member. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, volunteering at the food bank, and helping neighbors and friends. Helen was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting many holiday meals and especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren.

Helen is survived by three sons; Joseph II (Carolyn), Michael(Toni), Patrick(Janice); two daughters Frances Dawson (Bill) and Theresa (Travis) LaClef, grandchildren Joseph III , Michael, Bobby, Melissa, Ryan, Josh, Keith, Ambria, Rose, Tyler, and Karla; nine great grand children, younger sister Martha Ziebell, younger brother Charles Price, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Wanita, older brothers Harold and Raymond, older sister Laura, and younger sisters Roberta and Lorena.

Helen will be interred next to her husband, Joseph, at Willamette National Cemetery in Oregon.~~~ Edwards Memorial | University Place obituary
