Mable L. (Evans) Bush, 75, passed on April 6, 2008, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Jona "Joe" and Christina (Thompson) Evans.
Mable was united in marriage to Bob J. Bush on Dec. 23, 1949, at the Dorrisville Social Brethren Church.
In addition to her husband, Mable is survived by her daughter, Marlene (John) Nelson of Midland, Mich. and her son Bobby of Ortonville, Mich.; four grandchildren, Edward (Karen) Thomson of Rochester Hills, Mich., Julie Thomson of Milford, Mich., Sara Bush of Orlando, Fla. and Ashlee (Tommy) MaHaffy of Ortonville, Mich.; four great-grandchildren, Marissa, Logan, Ava and Marcus; four sisters, Mildred Roberson, Arvella Smith, Betty Kimble and Ann (Bill) Shea; sister-in-law, Vera Evans; and many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Evans; and sister, Elsie Peake; also brothers-in-law, Fred Anderson, Ken Kimble, James Smith and Bill Peake; and in-laws Robert and Wanda Bush.
Mable was very active in her church, serving as secretary until the time of her passing. She loved spending quality time with family at their cabin in Michigan, some of her hobbies included Yahtzee, cooking, bowling and fishing.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home in Harrisburg with the Rev. Charles Curry officiating and the Rev. Bernie Cowgill assisting. Burial will be in Saline Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dorrisville Social Brethren Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at Gaskins-Jones Funeral Home.
