Daughter of Rev. Charles Mercer Irwin and Harriet Ellen Andrews Battle. She was named for her paternal Grandmother, Isabella Bankston Irwin. She was the granddaughter of Reuben Taylor Battle and neice of Eugenius and Amanda Battle Nisbet. She married Morton Bryan Wharton in Leesburg, VA on August 2, 1864.
They had three children:
Charles Irwin Morton 1866-1866 died in infancy
Harriet Grace Wharton b 1867 married John McDowell Moore.
Morton Bryan Wharton, Jr. b. 1879 married ELIZABETH MEBANE "KITTIE" HOLT d. 1899
