Ruby Evelyn Sherman, 82 years of age, left this life on Feb. 9, 2010. She passed away at her home in Pomerene, Ariz.
Ruby was born Dec. 4, 1927 in Lowell/Bisbee, Ariz. and spent the majority of her life living in Pomerene. She has been preceded in death by her eternal companion, Ernest Sherman, her sons, Dennis and Aaron, her parents, Ercell Jones and Vilate Lillywhite Jones Coons, sisters, Athena Anderson and Elva Sherman and brother, Keith Coons.
Ruby is survived by her sisters, Ercella Kading of Casa Grande, Ariz., Jane Jeffs of Richland, Wash., brother, Wayne Coons of Tempe, Ariz., seven children, Dale Sherman (Bonnie), Kim Sherman (Melanie), Pamela Johnson, Robin Housley (Allan), Chris Sherman (Debra), Anndrea Blackshear (Ro-osevelt), Yvonne McAnany, 47 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren.
Ruby spent most of her adult life dedicated to the service of the Lord. She was a strong believer in genealogical research. She enjoyed teaching others, as well as corresponding with many people across the country tracing her family tree. She was also dedicated to the raising of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent many hours doing so. Many will remember her for the cakes she used to make for all occasions, especially her specialty German chocolate.
A celebration of her life was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Benson, Ariz. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, with burial at the Pomerene Cemetery. Arrangements were by San Pedro Funeral Home.
