William was born to Major William Adams and Emily Lockett on 19 Sept 1867 In St. John's, Burslem, Staffordshire, England. William married Florella Dunn of Steubenville, Ohio and they had 3 sons, William Earle, Paul Henry and Raymond Gladden Adams. Descending from an ancient line of potters, William worked at Homer Laughlin in Newell, West Virginia as a pottery designer and died there of a cerebral hemorrhage while designing a piece of pottery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florella. Funeral arrangements were made through the Martin Funeral Home.

Funeral services for the Major Willam Adams, potter, who died suddenly at the Homer Laughlin China Co. plant in Newell Monday afternoon will be held in the Martin Funeral Home in West Fifth Street Thursday at 2 p.m. in carhte of the Rev. John F. Dimit, pastor of the First Methodist Protestant church. Burial will be made in Riverview cemetery.
Friends are requested to call at the Martin home Wednesday night.
