Charles Walter Bush, Sr., 83, of Galesburg, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family and in the arms of his loving wife, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 8:10 a.m.

Chuck was born on October 22, 1931 in Abingdon, Illinois. He is the son of William Joe and Doris Evelyn Meadows Bush. He attended school in a small one room school house in Cherry Grove, outside of Abingdon. Chuck married his wife of 52 years, Linda Ann Nelson on July 14, 1963 at the Central Congregational Church, Galesburg. Chuck is survived by the love of his life, Linda; six sons, Rob (Deana) Bush of Rio, Lee (Tonya) Bush, Chuck (Laurie) Bush, Earl Bush, Mike (Clay) Bush, Travis (Kristy) Bush all of Galesburg; also surviving are two daughters, Debbie (Roger) McCormack of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Roxanne (Tom) Thomas of Kansas; and six sisters, Evelyn (Ervin) Morris and Agnes (Ivan) Roberts both of Knoxville, Dixie Lynch and Wanda McMillan both of Galesburg, Lou Ann (Warren) Matthews of Pocahontas, AR and Carol Holly of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Ricky Charles Bush, and Charles W. "Bubby" Bush, Jr.; a sister Phyllis Asher, and four brother-in-laws, Edward Asher, Richard Lynch, Jerry Holly, and Max McMillan.

Chuck worked as a finishing wares inspector for Briggs Manufacturing, formerly known as the Abingdon Pottery, for 42 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Along with riding his Harley, Chuck loved to go bowling, dancing, and roller skating. Aside from the dear love and companionship he had for his dogs, one of his most favorite past times was being able to spend time with his grand children, great-grand children and family. He enjoyed traveling, especially with his family and was able to go to 48 out of the 50 states. Chuck enjoyed life and lived every minute to the fullest with his wife.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the team at OSF Hospice, Andrea, Jennifer, Janice, Brandy, Alaina and to Deacon Michael Crummer. Words can not express our gratitude for the support and care you have given Charles and us through out this process.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015, followed by a prayer service at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Deacon Michael Crummer will be officiating. Cremation rites will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or to the family.
