Arthur T. Orr, of Hermitage, died at 2:20 a.m. today (11-10-89) in Nugent's Convalescent Home, Hermitage after a two-month illness. He was 100. Mr. Orr was born in Sharon Jan. 28, 1889, to Thomas and Lottie Orr. He served on the Hickory Township, now Hermitage, School board for 12 years.

He was first employed at the former Carnegie-Illinois Steel plant in Farrell and later was maintenance supervisor at Hickory Township schools. He retired from Lee Plumbing, Sharon. Mr. Orr was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sharpsville; a charter member of Hickory Volunteer Fire Department; and a member of Hickory Fire Police.

His wife the former Bertha Grant, whom he married in 1914, died in October 1938. Surviving are a son, Irvin G. Orr, Hermitage; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Vivian and Lorene; a son Chester; a sister, Nellie Orr and a great-granddaughter, Kathleen. {Sharon Herald}
