Alan K. Nurnberg, age 66, of McHenry passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Journey Care in Barrington.
Alan was born on November 25, 1948, in Waukegan IL a son of Clifford C. and Ann (Orrock) Nurnberg. He married Barbara Lesnak on November 16, 1974, at Mother of God Church in Waukegan IL.
Alan have served in U.S. Army during Vietnam War. He was a land surveyor for 40 years. When he retired he became a full time babysitter for his grandchildren who were his eternal pride. He loved the great outdoors and was an avid fisherman. Alan enjoyed listening to old time radio shows especially Jonny Dollar.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Barbara; his 3 daughters, Melissa Tessmer, Christy (Nate) Hamman and Kim Nurnberg; his 5 grandchildren, Andrew, Timmy, Ben, Keith and Hector; his brother, Clifford (Carole) Nurnberg; his sisters, Bonnie (Bud) Grosos and Judy (Clem) Wirfs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford C. and Ann Nurnberg; his son, Cpl. Keith A. Nurnberg; and his in-laws, Frank and Theresa Lesnak.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 20, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory 591 Ridgeview Dr. McHenry IL. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Shepard of the Hill Lutheran Church 404 N. Green St. McHenry, IL, from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
