On August 24, 2023, Robert (Rob) Fleming passed away at Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Rob was recovering from a fall which required 2 surgeries. His recovery was progressing well. He was treated for an infection, while in a rehabilitation center, it was thought to be cleared so was discharged home. After returning home, there was a relapse with the infection and was unable to overcome it. He was surrounded by his wife of 60 years and his daughter Barbara Picquet.

Rob is survived by his wife Shirley A Fleming, daughter Barbara J Picquet and preceded in death by son Richard A Fleming. He has 3 adult grandchildren Lauren M Noyes, Jacob A Picquet, and Benjamin M Picquet. There are 4 great-grandchildren Gabriel J Noyes, Keira C Noyes, Genevieve A Noyes, and Sean J Doer.

In life, Rob was a friendly person and was loved by many in his community. It was his and his wife's dream to retire to Florida, which was able to be fulfilled when they moved to Wildwood FL in 2006. Prior to his retirement, Rob worked as an electronic engineer in the communication field primarily, but also worked in real estate with Shirley. He was trained in electronics/radio/radar on navy jets. When he was discharged he continued to work in the field. Early in his career, he started his own electronic repair shop and married Shirley. During the following years, he worked at McDonnell Douglas, established new radio stations, maintained radio station equipment, installed communication/cable lines, and maintained an electronic airport beacon near his home. In addition to this, he obtained a real estate license and worked with Shirley in their real estate agency.

Rob worked hard but he also spent time with his family and friends. He loved being outside camping and boating with his family. Rob had many other varied interests like amateur radios, going to auctions, listening to local music, playing cards, and being on his computer. Once retired, he could be found either on his golf cart making the rounds in his neighborhood being the computer fix-it man. One of Rob's biggest enjoyments was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved taking them on golf cart rides, pontoon rides and on the jet ski. He was always great with getting the grandkids and great-grandkids to nap, often joining them. It wouldn't be unusual to see him asleep in the recliner with one or two on his lap. Rob was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 5pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1pm on Friday, September 8, 2023, in the Chapel at Hendersonville Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
