Lewis Gray Stoughton was born on 22 Feb 1876, in Broome County, NY; died 4 Dec 1966, in Binghamton, NY. He apparently lived on the Family Farm for his entire life and he ran a Dairy Farm. On 12 Sep 1918, he registered for the WWI draft, in Castle Creek, NY. He was married and was a Farmer, self employed. In 1940, the census enumerates him as a Mail Carrier and his sons, Edwin and Donald as Farm Labor.

He married Martha L. "Mattie" Aldrich who was born in Dec 1883, in Broome County, NY; died on 30 May 1971, in Binghamton, NY and both are buried in the Riverside Cemetery, in Whitney Point, NY.

His children are:
1. Nora W. Stoughton, born abt 1898. 1 , 2
2. Marium Agnes Stoughton, born 21 May 1904. (See End-note i )
3. SGT. John A. Stoughton, born 1907; died 25 Nov 1942, as a Japanese prisoner of
war, in the Philippines, during the Battle of Bataan and he was involved in the infamous "Death March" with the consequent Japanese torture of American Prisoners; he is buried in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, in Manila, Philippines.
4. Walter L. Stoughton, born 1908; died 1932, age 24 yrs; buried in the Riverside
Cemetery.
5. Alice Stoughton, born 1913; died 1931, age 18 yrs; buried in the Riverside Cemetery.
6. Edwin D. Stoughton, born abt 1915, in Broome County, NY.
7. Donald Stoughton, born abt 1924, in Broome County, NY. 3
