Ethel V. Emerick, 85, of Palmyra, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, in Lebanon's Good Samaritan Hospital. Born March 30, 1918, in Hershey, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Catherine McLanigan Poorman. She was a retired employee of Hershey Chocolate Corp., a former member of Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey, and a member of Chocolate Workers Local 464. Surviving are sons Donald Emerick of Venice, Fla., Carl Emerick of Palmyra, Stanley Emerick of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Rodney Emerick of Lancaster; daughter Judith White of Palmyra; brothers Harold Poorman of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., William Poorman of New Cumberland and Gerald Poorman of Harrisburg; sisters Arlene Grove of Middletown and Lucille Ryman of Hummelstown; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son James Emerick and daughter Marlene Ranieri. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Route 422 & Lucy Avenue, Hershey, preceded by visitation beginning at 10.
