Timothy O. Caviner was the son of James Caviner, a native of Amelia County, Virgina, and Frances "Fanny" Gray, a native of Bedford County, Tennessee. He was married on 20 November 1868, in Christian County, Missouri, to Martha Lavine Fugitt, and they were the parents of Nancy, Sarah, George, Malinda and Albert, as well as a foster daughter, Maggie Coffee.
