Dorothy Dean Harris Knuckles of Fairfield, CA, was born in Clarksville, AR, on July 14, 1941, to Ernest and Effie Perry Harris. Her parents died when she was young and so she was raised by her sister, Hazel Harris Sams. Dorothy passed away on August 18. 2023, Vallejo, CA. She graduated form Clarksville High School, Clarksville, AR, in 1960. Dorothy met the love of her life through a blind date. She married Benny Knuckles on December 22, 1960, in Lamar, AR. They just celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary last December. They moved to California in 1962 where Benny found employment. They first moved to Richmond, CA and the to San Pablo, CA. In 1978, they then moved to Fairfield, CA, where she lived until her death.
Dorothy worked at some fast-food restaurants in her younger years. She started her own daycare and worked in this profession until her grandkids were born and then she took care of them. She loved to make quilts and loved to watch her favorite soap operas, Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful. She was kind, loving and always willing to help others.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Benny Knuckles; daughter, Sherri Walker (Bob) of Vacaville, CA; son, Allan Knuckles, Sr., of Fairfield, CA; daughter, Pamela Hansen (Wayne) of Vacaville, CA.
She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Wesley Walker (Kim), of Bellemont, AZ; Trenton Knuckles of Colfax, CA; Casey Hansen of Vacaville, CA; Haylee Hansen, of Vacaville, CA and Allan Knuckles, Jr., of Fairfield, CA. She is also survived by her two brothers, Ernest Harris of Missouri and Verlon Harris of Clarksville, AR. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Hazel Sams; brother, Homer Harris; half siblings, Nellie Harris, Penatha Dennis, Clyde Harris, Claud Harris, Geneva Alderson, and Arlie Harris.
Dorothy will be cremated, and the final resting place will be at Fairmont Memorial Park, Fairfield, CA. Services will be private.
