Alta Faye Piercy, 97, of Cumberland, MD passed into Glory on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at UPMC-Western Maryland with her family by her side.

Born June 13, 1926 in Rowlesburg, WV, Mrs. Piercy was the daughter of the late Dorsey Walker Larew and Nellie (Goff) Larew. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Dale H. Piercy; her sons: George W. "Bill" Piercy and Dale E. Piercy; a daughter: Brenda Piercy and her grandsons: Steven Piercy and David Piercy.

Alta was always a caregiver, having six children and then working as a nursing assistant at Sacred Heart Hospital for 18 years. She then worked as a caregiver/sitter for many clients and retired from working three times. Alta lived at Frostburg Heights Apartments for many years and then moved to Cumberland Meadows. She loved to travel and enjoyed going on many bus trips with her friends. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Her faith in Christ kept her going through many hard times in her long life. She had a strong work ethic and always completed her task. Mom loved her family and left a legacy of faith and love for us to treasure.
