Old Kenton Newspaper Deaths and Marriages - Obituary, February 20, 1890

Little Hazel, the three year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bogardus, died Saturday morning. Its illness was of short duration, but very Sever, the little sufferer dying while in a spasm. A post mortem examination was held to ascertain the cause of death. Little Hazel was a sweet and very bright child. The funeral took place Monday afternoon. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of all their friends in their sad affliction.

The case being so suddenly fatal it was throught best to have a post mortem, and there was found a twist in the small bowel. about four inches below the stomach causing violent inflammation and blocking up of the alimentary canal and consequent death.

A little laughing face
In her bed I see,
Two little bright blue eyes
Looking up at me.

Two little baby hands
Clutching at my hair,
Two tiny, restless feet
Tossing in the air.
Busy little Hazel.

Two little sweet, red lips,
Open for a kiss;
What more could mama and papa
Ask for more than this?
Loving Little Hazel.

Card of Thanks:

We desire to extend our grateful and sincerely thanks to our friends and neighbors who assisted and comforted us in the affliction caused by the death of our little daughter.
H. A. Bogardus and Wife.
