Mr. Donald Lee "Donnie" Blaxton, age 70, of Henderson, Nevada, died Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada after a brief illness. Mr. Blaxton was a native of Vidalia living most of his life in Savannah. He graduated from Vidalia High School in 1971, and later received a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Georgia. Donnie was a devoted educator for Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. He later taught Chemistry and Physics at A.E. Beach High School for 20 years. Donnie wanted his students to learn, and he had a gift for making even the most complex subjects accessible, patiently guiding his students through the labyrinth of knowledge with tireless dedication. One of his many passions in life was collecting and exploring rocks. He was an avid University of Georgia Football fan, getting very emotional when the team played. He is preceded in death by his father, Thelbert Blaxton; and a sister, Deborah Blaxton.

The funeral mass will be Saturday morning, September 16th, at 11 o'clock at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vidalia.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, September 15th, from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock.
