"Joe Charles Carter, 72, of Hot Springs, passed from this life Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, after his long battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 25, 1946, in Delight, Ark., the son of the late Lacy Howard and Minnie Colwell Carter.
Joe was of the Baptist faith; he retired from Walmart; he was a Vietnam veteran; he enjoyed hunting and camping; his passion was his gun collection. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Burks Carter; one brother, Ronnie Carter; and his daughter, Amie Carter, all of Hot Springs.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Ileen Carter, of Hot Springs; his sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Carter, Mark Heitman and Danny and Candi Heitman; his daughters and son-in-law, Johnette and John Harden and Melinda Heitman, all of Hot Springs; his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff of National Park Medical Center.
A Graveside military memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rockport Cemetery in Malvern.
Arrangements are with Hot Springs Funeral Home.
