The body of Mrs. Mary Hughes, a former resident of this city, who died Wednesday at Galesburg, arrived yesterday afternoon from that city. The funeral is to be held at 10 o'clock this morning, from her former home in Payson, Adams county. Rev. Dr. S. M. Campbell, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Galesburg, will have charge of the funeral, having arrived yesterday afternoon with relatives of the deceased, for which place the funeral party left last evening.

The Galesburg Republican-Register, in its account of the death of Mrs. Hughes, had the following:

Mrs. Mary Hughes, beloved wife of Samuel M. Hughes, the well known local real estate dealer, and one of the prominent women of the city, passed away at the residence, 428 South Cedar street, Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, death coming after an illness of several years. The immediate cause of her death was acute uraemia. Present at the bedside when the end came were her husband, father and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Harriet E. Stratton of Plainville, Ill., and Mrs. Catherine P. Blauser of Payson, Ill.

During the winter of 1912-13 she was confined to the Galesburg hospital and last summer she seemed to improve. Again last December she began to fail and the end came peacefully at the home on Wednesday afternoon. She was a woman of lovely disposition and was admired by all who knew her. During her illness she was given the best of care by efficient nurses.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Galesburg Women's club and had the distinction of reading the first paper before that organization at the first meeting after its founding. She was deeply interested in its affairs and the club owes considerable of is existence to her.

Sketch of Her Life.

Mary Robbins was the daughter of Daniel E. Robbins and Anna (Thompson) Robbins and was born on Oct. 8, 1869, at Payson, Ill. Her mother passed away in 1904. She spent her early life in that place and was educated in the Payson High school and the Bushnell normal.

She was united in marriage with Samuel M. Hughes on May 17, 1894, at Payson, Ill., at the home of her parents. After their marriage they lived in the country near Payson until December, 1896, when they moved to Quincy and came to Galesburg in August, 1906. Since that time, she made her home in this city.

At the age of ten years, she united with the Congregational church in Payson, and after moving to Quincy transferred to the First Congregational church of that city. While in Galesburg, she attended the First Presbyterian church.

No children were born to the union. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, Daniel E. Robbins, of Payson, Ill.; one brother, Ernest T. Robbins, of Washington, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Arnett, of Fresno, Cal.; Mrs. Grace R. McCrory, of Okmulgee, Okla., and Miss Edith Robbins, who lives with her father at Payson.

Burial at Payson.

Mrs. Hughes will be buried in the cemetery at Payson, at the side of her mother. Short funeral services will be held at the home, 428 South Cedar street, Friday morning at 8:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. S. M. Campbell, after which the funeral party will leave for Payson on the 10 o'clock train. Rev. Mr. Campbell will accompany them and will conduct further services in Payson.
