He was preceded in death by his parents: Sidney and Ethel Davis, one daughter: LaRenda Bullock, and one sister: Carrell Schirmer.
Gerald was a loving husband to his wife of 61 years, LaNell. He was also a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a long time member of the Wardell Baptist Church in Wardell, MO. Gerald was a proud veteran serving 4 years in the United States Air Force. He also retired from the Army National Guard, he achieved the rank of Platoon Sergeant and Sergeant First Class. He also served in Desert Storm. He was an active member of the VFW Post 6953 and the American Legion Post 88. You could often see him proudly serving at the VFW breakfast events. Gerald also worked as the local gas/propane man for over 40 years, servicing over 250 power units throughout the Bootheel, and was always on call to help in emergencies. He enjoyed dancing, mowing, gardening, and spending time with his family especially his grandkids.
He leaves the following behind to cherish his memory, his wife of the home, LaNell Davis of Wardell, MO, 2 children, Joey Clowers of Hayti, MO and LaRae (Jeff) Long of Sikeston, MO, one sister, Jeannie Blissenbach of Fultz, IL, one brother-in-law, Jim (Kathy) Madison of Hayti, MO, 7 grandchildren, Nathan (Simon) Bullock, Stephanie Adkins, Betsy (Matt) Brown, Sydney (Phil) Luye, Aaron (James) Meales, Keston Long, and Julia Long, 5 great grandchildren, Clayton Adkins, Jersey Luye, Mason Brown, Pippa Luye, and Marshall Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held September 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Wardell Baptist Church in Wardell, MO with Brother Griff Walker officiating. Burial was help September 14, 2023, at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO. Pallbearers were Clayton Adkins, Matt Brown, Philip Luye, Aaron Meales, Dustin Panky, and William Allison. Honorary Pallbearers were Nathan Bullock, Keston Long, Simon Qui, and the VFW.
