Wilbur Behanna, 82, of Monongahela (Riverhill), died Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996, in Mon Valley Hospital. Born Oct. 25, 1913, in Monongahela, he was the son of the late David and Mary Cratty Behanna. A lifelong resident of the Monongahela area, Mr. Behanna was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at Sixth and Chess streets. He also served on the Pulpit Committee of the church. A 1934 graduate of Monongahela High School, he was a retired electrician for U.S. Steel and Clairton plants. He was a volunteer driver for Tri-Community Ambulance Service for 16 years and a member of AARP No. 1612 of Wilson. He and his wife, Frances Weigel Behanna, who survives, celebrated 32 years of marriage on May 16 1996. In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Schumann of Marengo, Ill.; a stepson, Jack Wheatley of Horsehead, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Bradley Schumann,
Jeffrey Benjamin and Cindy Crump; and one step-granddaughter, Jacqueline Surowicz. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six brothers, Howard, John, Wilson, Clarence, Eugene and Benjamin Behanna; and one sister, Beatrice Richardson. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the L.M. Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela.
