Thomas James Wyskida, Sr. of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on October 11, 2008. He was 70. He is survived by his forever loving wife Marion Rose (Amendola) of 48 years. He is also survived by his 5 loving children and spouses Michael and Charlene, John and Lisa, Thomas Jr. and Stefanie, Andrew and Heidi Wyskida and Andrea and George Keefe. 11 loving grandchildren Michael Lee and Kerri, Maria and Johnny, Christopher, Nicholas and Zachary and Jeremy, Melissa, Jason and Andrew. three sisters Judy Morley, Trudy Carille and Susan Crescenti. In laws Rosemary and Peter Kuczma and Anthony and Ellen Amendola.
He served in the Army National Guard for 10 years. Tom was a 1960 graduate of Manhattan College with a bachelor of science degree and a graduate of Iona College with a masters degree in education.
He was a well known mathematics teacher for the district 3 school system at Blue Mountain Middle School retiring in 2000 after 37 years. Teaching was his passion, always taking the extra time and effort to listen and tutor both inside and outside of the classroom.
He was highly active in his children's lives growing up, as he was named Parent of the Year in 1980 and 1981 from the Walter Panas High School.
His role in the community was highly recognized as he received a certificate of award in 1999 from the Cortlandt Town Board in recognition as a member of the Pride in Cortlandt Committee and his active role in the annual clean up day and the flower villages project.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and most of all gardening. He always had a favorite recipe on numerous vegetables to share with family and friends.
Tom was a friend to all who knew him and most of all a most loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed and will remain in our hearts forever. May God bless him as he travels into heaven.
