Nellie J. Satterly, daughter of the late Frank and Julia Cutler, was born December 6, 1918 in Lee County, Iowa. She attended Van Buren Rural School until the 8th grade and graduated from Farmington High School in 1936.

Nell, as she was known to family and friends, taught school in rural Lee and Van Buren Counties for several years. After the rural schools closed, she worked in the Van Buren County Superintendent of Schools office in Keosauqua for 15 years until her retirement in 1975.

On June 1, 1942, Nell was united in marriage to Robert Satterly while he was on leave from the Army. They were blessed with two daughters and lived in the same house in Farmington for 60 years.

Nell was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church and was active in various community groups including Easter Star, TTT, PEO, and the FHS Alumni Association. She loved to play bridge in her spare time.

Nell passed away at 7:30 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Sunset Village of the Ozarks in St. Robert, Missouri where she had lived for the past 2 � years. She had attained the age of 87 years, 8 months and 21 days.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 2, 2006 in the Farmington United Methodist Church of Farmington, Iowa with Pastor Paul Rekward officiating. Nell's daughter Sharon Pankey shared a beautiful eulogy. Soloist Julie Vance sang "Have Thine Own Way, Lord" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Serving as escorts were Ryan and Rush Olney, Glenn Satterly, James McCall and Arny and Steve Oilar. Serving as honorary escorts were Jared, Joel, Eugene and Andrew Pankey and Roger Olney.

Burial followed in the Green Glade Cemetery of Farmington, Iowa. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Waynesville/St. Robert.
