US Congressman. In 1814, he was a tax collector and clerk of the courts of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, 1816 to 1819. He was a member of the State House of Representatives in 1821, 1822 and 1826 and was postmaster of Wilkes-Barre, 1826 to 1832. In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses, serving until 1837. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he served as commissioner of public buildings in Washington, D.C. and again as a member of the State House of Representatives, in 1849.
