John Wilde, son of William Wilde and Eliza (Phillips) Wilde, was born in Fair Oak, Bishopstoke, Hampshire, England.

John joined the LDS Church in England in 1849, and moved to America with his brother Fredrick George Wilde in 1854. They evenutally settled in Coalville, Summit, Utah.

John married Elsa Maria Rabeck, the only surviving child of Mr. Rabeck and Cecelia (Pehrson) Rabeck, in November of 1857 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had 7 children.

John's father, William, came later to Utah, in 1859. William later married Elsa's mother Cecelia in 1865.

John Wilde died in Coalville and was buried there at the age of almost 56.
