Our Community is in deep sympathy with the widow, children , brothers and , sisters of the Late Harry Lunceford, of near Baldwin's Ridge Church, who was accidentally killed by a piece of timber striking him on the head while he was attempting to help a sick horse up in his stable, on March 19th, 1931. He lived about fifteen hours, and was attended by Dr. Trow and the Red Cross nurse, besides several of his brothers, sisters and neighbors , until the end came.
Mr. Lunceford was about fifty two years old and had lived his entire life in Fauquier County.
Belonging to that family of sturdy and energetic Luncefords , who have all made good farmers.
He was the frailest one of the family of two sisters and seven brothers and the first link of the family to die.
His wife was Miss Pearl Griffith and he leaves a family of sixchildren , the youngest being four years old.
One of the boys about ten years old had just returned from a Washington hospital last Friday, where he had spent several months for treatment.
His funeral was held in Broad Run Baptist Church where he was a member, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Barnett Grimsley who with the choir sang beautifully " Sometime " We'll Understand." Interment was made in Warrenton Cemetery.
Besides his wife and six children he leaves two sisters, Ms. Ida Lunceford and Mrs. Eppa Griffith , and brothers , Messrs, John , Joe, Granville, Clay, Mack and Gordon Lunceford , all of Fauquier County. The largest attendance at his home and the church to pay a last tribute of love and respect to him and his bereaved family bespoke his popularity in his community.
