Gwendolyn (Summers) Pasipanodya was born on March 2, 1947, and she was the daughter of William Buford Summers (1922–2002) and Frances Alene (Hall) Summers (1928–2003).

She graduated from Pearl High School in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee and entered Tennessee A & I in the Welfare Program with plans to become a social worker.

Gwendolyn was married to Dr Alphonse Pasipandoya, with their Marriage Announcement being published in THE TENNESSEAN on June 6, 1968.

She was in Nashville, 72 years old and married when she passed away on December 18, 2019.

Preceded in death by her son Rufaro Pasipandoya in 1969 and by her daughter Chipiwa Netsai Pasipanodya in 2012, she was survived by her husband, three children and other relatives and friends.

Her Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony was held before noon on December 20th at the chapel of Smith Funeral Directors, and Funeral Services were at noon, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery North.
