Anna Agatha Johnston, a longtime resident of Havelock, NC, peacefully went to meet our Lord in the company of her family at home early in the morning on February 17, 2023. She lived 90 beautiful years in joy and prosperity.

Agatha was a farm girl born in Vernon, West Virginia on July 2, 1932, to Jesse and Lydia Arbogast. She was proud to have walked in the snow to school as a child in the mountains of West Virginia. She learned at an early age the value of hard work on the family farm. She was highly educated in the books of life. Her treasured talent was the art of giving to others and putting all ahead of her own desires. Agatha instilled her caring manner in her family and all who encountered her. She was the bedrock of her family and a beloved friend to many in the Havelock community.

She was a housewife and mother, able to balance home life while retiring from Walmart after 25 years of dedicated service. She was a masterful cook who could whip up any meal or dessert with "…a splash of this and a dash of that…" always more than enough for anyone who needed it. She diligently volunteered and gave her time to her church and community; working hard through church outreach to help invest back into capital improvements and programs for the church. She enjoyed using her downtime to read novels and work on puzzles with her family and she could often be found sitting in her sunroom watching the birds that visited her bird feeders. Her favorite being the NC State bird, the Red Cardinal.

She is survived by her husband Johnnie Johnston, to whom she was married for 59 years and raised two children. Her daughter Cindy Lee (Robert) and son Kevin Johnston (Christy), both residents of Ocean, NC. Her pride and joy, her three granddaughters, Kai Salmon and husband Hayden of Lakeland, FL, Blair Johnston of Mill Creek, NC, and Jenna Johnston of Greenville, NC. She also leaves her sisters, Annetta Good of Raleigh, NC, and Erna Lingle of Arvada, CO along with many loving nieces and nephews. Agatha was preceded in death by her sisters Dolores Adams and Nellie Robinson and her fist husband Hobart W Robinson.

There was a visitation with friends and family on Monday, February 20th from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cherry Point United Methodist Church. Her service was held Tuesday, February 21, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Cherry Point United Methodist Church, 103 Methodist Drive, Havelock, NC where she was a member for 50-plus years. A graveside service followed at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens, 908 Lake Road Havelock, NC 28532.
