Charles & Francis married in Bellingham, Washington July 15, 1909. (They probably met in college at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa; where Charles was granted a degree in Civil Engineering.) He spent several years in Washington State with the State Highway Department. About 1915 they moved to Chicago, Illinois where Charles worked at the headquarters of the Portland Cement Company. They were still in Chicago when the 1920 Census was taken:

While my dad was in basic training (Navy 1952) in San Diago, he visited Jean & Raymond often. Jeane wrote HIs mother lovely letters telling about Russel, how he looked and how he seemed to be getting along during basic training. They were wonderful hosts.
