Obituary of Joseph W. Adamic

Joseph W. Adamic, age 90, of Joliet, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Joseph was born on June 27, 1933, the son of the late John J. and Catherine (nee Reibel) Adamic in Joliet and remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, with the Class of 1953. He retired from ComEd after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet, a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Holy Name Society, and an active member of IBEW Local 15.

Joseph enjoyed spending his time stamp collecting, testing his luck at the casinos, playing cribbage with family and friends, and fishing. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. Joseph was a devoted husband, a loving father, and enjoyed the role of "Papa" more than anything. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Joan T. (nee Kuzma) Adamic; his children, Beth (Bert) Lilek, Mark Adamic, and Paul (Melissa) Adamic; grandchildren, Kyle Adamic, Matt and Amy Lilek, and Joey and Gavin Adamic; and his uncles, Rev. Al Adamich and Walter Adamic. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph G. Adamic; his parents; brother, John E. Adamic; and his step-mother, Cele (nee Hefferle) Adamic.

Funeral Services for Joseph W. Adamic will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, to St. Joseph Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. As it was Joseph's wish, cremation rites will be accorded following mass. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Inurnment will take place privately by the family at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated and may be made in his name to the Epilepsy Foundation, 17 N State St., Unit 650, Chicago, IL 60602, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432, or Abraham Lincoln Memorial Squad, P.O. Box 6, Elwood, IL 60421.
