Alice Meme Abate passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the age of 96. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent F. Abate, whom she married December 21, 1947 in Brooklyn New York, where they both were born and raised. She remained married to Vincent until his death in January 2009.

Alice had a great love for dancing and music that she enjoyed through the years. Alice was deeply devoted to her husband, children and family and above everything else loved spending time with them. She loved cooking, entertaining and any reason she had to bring the family together; holidays were among her favorite. She was the most loving mother that nurtured her children with an unconditional and encouraging love, teaching them the value of hard work, honestly and most of all to be thankful. She loved to laugh and tease with her children and friends often times giving them pet names, which was a sign of her affection. She loved socializing, telling jokes and had quite a sense of humor.

Also, preceding her in death were her parents, John and Meme Bedross (nee Sudah) and all six of her siblings, George Bedross, Isobel Snyder, Agnes Harley, Fred Bedross, Mary Bedross and Albert Bedross. Also her brother-in-law, Frank M. Abate and sister-in-law, Mary J. Abate.

Alice and Vince had four children that they raised in Xenia, where they made their home; Maria Abate, Robert Abate, Thomas (Carol) Abate and Tina (Greg) Atkins; six grandchildren, Vincent Bagford, Amarett Bagford, Alice Bagford, Alina Abate, Christopher Abate and Nicholas Abate; and four great grandchildren, Timothy James Henry, Aniya Matthews and Noli Williamson.

Alice and Vince raised their children to live by the Ten Commandments. She placed her faith and trust in the Lord as this helped sustain her through the trials and challenges of her life. Her warmth and compassion for all who knew her will be missed.Alice was reunited and laid to rest by her husband, Vincent, at Calvary Cemetery.
