Charlene Ruth Johnson was born to Joseph Nathanael and Ruth Charlotte (Gustafson) Johnson in Mora, MN on May 28, 1929. She attended school in Mora, graduating in 1946. She attended Bethel College for one year following her graduation from high school. She spent the next few years working in Minneapolis and helping her father care for her mother who had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She married Russell Oliver Anderson on June 1, 1951 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora. Together, they had four children: Roger, Rodney, Douglas and Carol. They had been married almost 58 years when Russell died in February of 2009.
Charlene absolutely loved living on the farm, being outside, gardening and fishing. She loved Jesus most of all. Her faith was steadfast and unshakeable. Her testimony was felt in her actions and in the life she lived. She used words when necessary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell and brother and sister-in-law, Gerald (Miriam) Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Roger (Jane), Rodney, Douglas (Janet) and Carol (Nick) Rotvold; 11 grandchildren, Richard (Karlee), Judy (Jonathan), Raymond, Ryan (Jessica), Rocelle (Andrew), Erika (Matthew), Kimberly, Phillip, Clara, Colin and Kirsten; five great-grandchildren, Kadence, Aria, Malaya, Amara and Isaiah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
