Clare L. Knipper passed away on August 31, 2023. She was born in San Francisco on August 30, 1932 to Kathleen and Hugo Von Krakau, and was the third child of seven brothers and sisters.

Clare lived in Petaluma, CA for eight years and attended St. Vincent School. When her family returned to San Francisco she attended Immaculate Conception Academy, graduating in 1950.

Clare married her husband William "Bill" in 1954 and together they had two sons. Bill rejoined the Marine Corps in 1955 and so they moved frequently. He retired from the Corps in 1973 and they relocated to Reno.

Clare loved football and was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants. She also liked to sew and crochet. She worked for the Federal Government at the Marine Corps base in Twentynine Palms, CA and the Social Security Administration in Reno, retiring in 1994.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bill, her mother and father, brother Joseph, sister Anne Davis and niece Kellianne Tringali. She is survived by her sons Michael and William of Sparks, brother Neil Von Krakau of Sparks, sister Kathy Green (Larry), brothers Dan Von Krakau (Vera) and Bill Von Krakau (Bev) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clare's cremation is under the care of Walton's Sparks Funeral Home. Her Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sparks on September 14 at 11:00 a.m., and she will be inurned and rejoining her husband at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley on September 15 at 9:00 a.m.
