Was an invalid in her later years, and taken care of by Mrs. Holland during her last illness ... She died at the age of 44 years. *Butte County, California, Abstracts from Early Probate Records, Guardianships, Wills. Compiled by Paradise Genealogical Society, 1992. (pg 31): Estate of George W. Durham, File No 134, Date of Death: 18 Oct 1880. Listing heirs " ...Louisa Durham, wife, age 31 years; living in Durham, Butte County, CA ... "

*From Other Sources: Born in Missouri, aged 44 years at time of death. Listed as white, married; buried under the name Louise B. Durham, although married to Mr. Brown.

*Editor's Note: The mausoleum surrounding the grave of Louisa Durham is dated 1901, the marble front seal 1893(*) even though she died earlier, 6 Nov 1891. The formerly gated southwest corner was permanently blocked when the mausoleum was constructed. The west side of the cast iron fencing was removed to provide access to the gravesite. The picture attached shows the original gate and inscription, which was stolen sometime between 1995-1997. In 2018 the gate was found, and returned to Durham Cemetery. In 2019 it was sandblasted, painted, and powder coated, and replaced on site.
